Spanish language and culture begins with our youngest learners and continues through 9th grade. Our program emphasizes communication using meaningful cultural contexts and everyday social situations. Our goal is to continue to build language proficiency in all skill areas: speaking, listening, writing, and reading.
Students participate actively through cooperative learning, dialogues, and a variety of hands-on activities incorporating songs, skits, games, and movement. We explore interesting and relevant cultural themes to heighten students’ awareness of cultural diversity and to deepen their appreciation of other cultures as well as their own.
8th grade students wrote and illustrated books about their love of sports in Spanish. Demonstrating their learning, they read their books to K/1 Spanish students.
